Marugoto A1-2 (Katsudoo & Rikai) Tutor Support Course

Outline

This is a course to comprehensively learn about the Japanese language and culture. In this course, you can self-study online while a regularly having your assignments corrected and receiving live lessons by a tutor.

■Target leaners
- Those who living in Malaysia
- Those who have studied approx. 50 hours of Japanese before.
* This course is not suitable for those who have never studied Japanese before.

In the Katsudoo section of this course, you can gain practical communication skills for everyday situations by listening to a lot of Japanese as you practice speaking. Meanwhile, in the Rikai section, you can systematically learn how Japanese is used in communication. The objective is to gain a comprehensive Japanese ability that includes reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Please study at pace of one lesson per week.

There are three types of lessons offered in this course.
 - 6 live lessons
 - 1 oral test
 - 1 Katsudoo and 8 Rikai assignments corrected

If you want to thoroughly study Japanese by yourself, while enhancing your practical skills with tutor support, this course is for you!  You will meet other friends who study Japanese in Malaysia in the live lessons, too!

【Notes】
■About the course level
- This course is one level higher than the Marugoto A1-1 (Katsudoo & Rikai) Course
- We strongly recommend you to take "the Japanese Test for Course Recommendation" for level checking before applying to this course.

■About the student selection process
This is a course where participating students are determined by a selection process. For those who wish to apply for the selection process, first carefully read the course outline in full. Then, within the designated application time period, please click the 'Course Registration' button and complete the application.

Note, results of the selection process are expected to be sent to the email address registered with 'Minato' on Sep. 23 (Wed) by 4:00 pm (Malaysia Time).

Teaching Materials Used

You will learn interactively using the Marugoto Japanese Online Course site.
You will manage your study progress, submit assignments, and take tests within the Marugoto Japanese Online Course site.

Live lessons and oral tests are conducted through "Zoom". For details, please refer to the following "About live lessons".

About Live Lesson

■Live lessons
The Live lesson is a fixed class conducted by one instructor and with a maximum of six students. The initial live lesson will consist of course guidance, and thereafter the second to fifth live lessons will be conducted per topic. The final live lesson will be review session. One live lesson takes approximately 45 minutes.The live lessons are based on conversations learned in the self-study materials and written assignments, so you will need to have completed the self-study for each topic before the live lesson.

Live lessons are scheduled by class. Please check the schedule below and choose a class where you want to join. Please note, neither the class itself nor the date/time of the live lesson can be changed to suit the personal needs of any one particular student.

■Oral test
The oral test is conducted one-on-one after all of the live lessons have been completed. The time will be decided by consultation with the tutor in charge after the course begins. It is usually about 5 to 10 minutes.

■System used
Live lessons and oral tests are conducted through Zoom (https://zoom.us/). With Zoom, the lesson room can be accessed by opening an assigned URL, so there is no need to download a system or to open an account. However, the program will need to be installed for the first lesson.
JFKL uses password and waiting room functions as security measures while using Zoom.

The system requirements (necessary bandwidth) for the group video conference using Zoom are as follows.

Upload Speed 600kbps / Download Speed 1.2Mbps

For those who do not know the bandwidth of their internet connection, please use the following site to conduct a speed test. (This will transfer you to an external site.)

■What you need
To take the live lessons and oral test, please have the following four items ready.

1. Computer with internet connection

      *The latest version is recommended.
3. Headset (with microphone)

Notes:
- Live lessons connect learners from around Malaysia. Please do not be late. Please understand that there may be up to a 15-minute delay, depending on the connection.
- Be sure to use a computer that is connected to the internet. Do not participate with a smartphone, as information will be shared during live lessons.

Completion Requirements

Passing Score: score of 60 or higher

The allocation of points is as follows.
 - Study progress 50%
 - Assignment 10%
 - Test 10%
 - Live lesson 20%
 - Oral test 10%

Notes:
- You can take the test if you go over 60% in both the study progress and submitted assignments of each lesson.
- You will not be given an attendance certificate if you do not attend any of the live lessons.
- Also, you will not be given an attendance certificate if you do not take the oral test.

■Payment of Fee
Only those selected will receive the e-mail regarding payment of fee from the Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur. Please make the payment before the due date stipulated.

        *You must have an account with a bank in Malaysia.

■Cancellation Policies
Your eligibility to take this course will be cancelled automatically if the payment of fee is not confirmed by the payment due date

Please note that cancellation after payment of fee will not be allowed. Fee paid are non-refundable and non-transferrable for any reason. Therefore, please be extra careful when doing the payment transaction.

However, in the case where this course is not commence due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of our centre, a full refund will be made in accordance with regulations.

Upon completion of the payment of fee, the user is deemed to have agreed to all the items written in this Term of Service.
