Marugoto A2-1 (Katsudoo & Rikai) Tutor Support Course

Outline

This is a course to comprehensively learn about the Japanese language and culture. In this course, you can self-study online while a regularly having your assignments corrected and receiving live lessons by a tutor.

In the Katsudoo section of this course, you can gain practical communication skills for everyday situations by listening to a lot of Japanese as you practice speaking. Meanwhile, in the Rikai section, you can systematically learn how Japanese is used in communication. The objective is to gain a comprehensive Japanese ability that includes reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Please complete one lesson every week.

There are three types of lessons offered in this course.
6 live lessons (once every two weeks)
・1 oral test 
・2 Katsudoo and 10 Rikai assignments corrected

This course has groups, too. Through the group noticeboard, you can study while communicating with friends that you learn with and tutors.

If you want to thoroughly study Japanese by yourself, while enhancing your practical skills with tutor support, this course is for you! You will meet other friends who study Japanese in the course group and live lessons, too!

■About the student selection process
This is a course where participating students are determined by a selection process. For those who wish to apply for the selection process, first carefully read the course outline in full. Then, within the designated application time period, please click the 'Course Registration' button and complete the application.

Note, results of the selection process are expected to be sent to the email address registered with 'Minato' on September 14 (Fri.) around 10:00am. (Japanese Time).

■About the Japanese Test for Course Recommendation
This course is one level higher than the Marugoto A1-1, A1-2 (Katsudoo & Rikai) Course. If you don't know what level of Marugoto courses to take, try taking the Japanese Test for Course Recommendation.

You will learn interactively using the Marugoto Japanese Online Course site.
You will manage your study progress, submit assignments, and take tests within the Marugoto Japanese Online Course site.

About Live Lesson

■Live lessons
The Live Lesson is a fixed class conducted by one instructor and with a maximum of 5 students.The initial live lesson will consist of course guidance, and thereafter one lesson will be conducted per topic. One lesson takes approximately 45 minutes, where you will get to actually use what you have studied with the Marugoto Japanese Online Course site.
Live lessons are scheduled by class. Please choose a class where you can take part in all six lessons, when you register for the course. Please note, neither the class itself nor the date of the Live Lesson can be changed to suit the personal needs of any one particular student.

■Oral test
The oral test is conducted one-on-one after all of the live lessons have been completed. The date will be decided by consultation with the tutor in charge after the course begins. It is usually about 30 minutes.

■System used
Live lessons and oral tests are conducted through Zoom . With Zoom, the lesson room can be accessed by opening an assigned URL, so there is no need to download a system or to open an account. However, the program will need to be installed for the first lesson.

The system requirements (necessary bandwidth) for the group video conference using Zoom are as follows.

Upload Speed 600kbps / Download Speed 1.2Mbps

■What you need
To take the live lessons and oral test, please have the following two items ready.
1. Headset (with microphone)
2. Web camera

Note:
・Live lessons connect learners from around the world. Please do not be late. Please understand that there may be up to a 15-minute delay/extension, depending on the connection.
・Be sure to use a computer that is connected to the internet. Do not participate with a smartphone, as instructor's screen will be shared during live lessons.

Completion Requirements

Passing Score: score of 60 points or higher

The allocation of points is as follows.
・Study progress 50%
・Assignment 10%
・Test 10%
・Live lesson 20%
・Oral test 10%

Note:
・You can take the test if you go over 60% in both the study progress and submitted assignments of each lesson.
・You will not be given an attendance certificate if you do not attend any of the live lessons.
・Also, you will not be given an attendance certificate if you do not take the oral test.
